Visitors will find us in one of America’s most historic and scenic coastal resorts, Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Originally dealing exclusively in authentic antique prints and maps, we have expanded our offerings through the years to include fine paintings, sculpture and ceramic works of art.
Now, in addition to our large inventory of antique natural history prints and antique maps, Cheryl Newby Gallery represents a number of nationally and regionally recognized painters and sculptors. Among those represented are the highly acclaimed impressionist painter, the late, Ray Ellis of Martha’s Vineyard, South Carolina painters William McCullough, and Mike Williams, North Carolina painter Paula Holtzclaw, highly regarded, classically trained, still-life artist, Ellen Buselli, Georgia Award Winning Pastel artist Lisa Gleim, Florida watercolorist Martha dePoo, the late National Academy of Design member Donald Holden, Accomplished Plein air Painter Linda Arnold, Master in the historic medium, Egg Tempera Daniel Ambrose, ceramic artist Glenda Taylor, and award winning sculptors, Amy Kann, Gwen Marcus, Catherine Ferrell and Sandy Scott.
In 2018, our gallery welcomed Virginia painter, Laura Edwards. Edward’s paintings are executed in oils and pastels, are primarily non-objective and non-representational. Simplified compositions are emphasized and made increasingly exciting and ethereal by her application of brilliant shades of color.
In our antique prints and maps section, you will find natural history prints and etchings by John James Audubon, Mark Catesby, John Gould, Prideaux John Selby, George Edwards, William Curtis, Francois Martinet and others, along with antique maps from the 16th through the 19th centuries. We also offer original hand colored lithographs from the famous "History of the Indian Tribes of North America" by McKenney and Hall in both folio and octavo editions.
We strive to offer our patrons a variety of styles and media, and we limit our artists and offerings to those who have achieved a high level of accomplishment reflected in their distinctive style.
We welcome your visit to our little corner of the world!
