Lately we hear more and more art buyers say that they have learned to appreciate abstract art. They seem surprised that this has “happened” to them, and they want more! Still, others will sometimes say things like, “I just don’t understand it” or “I don’t know what I am supposed to see.” We say… “RELAX!” Within seconds of viewing an abstract painting you should know how it makes you FEEL. Do the colors and forms make you happy, sad, or calm? That’s what it’s all about; how it makes you feel, not what subject matter you can identify. Abstract artists create their works using color, line and form, not realistic details. Some artists straddle the threshold of abstraction and realism while others consider themselves totally non-objective. The viewer can usually garner a feeling of certain objects, such as landscape, created by a semi abstract artist. In this exhibition, we have chosen four highly accomplished artists with widely varying styles towards creating abstract art.
