The works of Sigmund
Abeles of New York, a master figurative painter, and member
of the National Academy of Design who grew up in South Carolina
may be seen in the gallery, as well as works by award winning
still-life artist
Ellen_Buselli, and Donald_Holden,
another member of the National Academy of Design from Irvington,
NY. Paintings by the well-known regional artists Mike_Williams,
Martha dePoo, and
Paula B. Holtzclaw
are offered. In 2010, we welcomed Glenda
Taylor, a ceramic artist extraordinaire; and sculptor, Babette
Bloch, a pioneer in the use of stainless steel to
create monuments and limited edition works of art.
In the antique prints
and maps section of the gallery, one will find natural history
prints and etchings by John
James Audubon, Mark
Catesby, John
Gould, Prideaux John Selby, George_Edwards,
Basilius_Besler,
William Curtis, and others, along with antique maps from the 16th
through the 19th centuries. The gallery boasts one of the largest
inventories of hand colored lithographs in the country from the
famous History of the Indian
Tribes of North America by Thomas McKenney and James Hall.
