Leaping Trout
Annunciation [angel]

Ferrell - Leaping Trout

materials: Bronze
9 x 16 x 12
Edition of 20
$2950

“Leaping Trout” is dedicated to those many summers full of beautiful and remote places as our fly-fishing parents pursued elusive trout across America, Canada and Alaska. We were blessed abundantly by the travel and time together, on quests for adventures of all kinds. First carved in tortoiseshell alabaster in 1985 and cast in bronze, it was added to my parent’s collection. The Black Trout was included in the National Sculpture Society's 2004 Annual Awards Exhibit at Brookgreen Gardens and in New York. The Brown Trout was included in the artist’s Pen and Brush solo exhibition in New York, 2004 .

materials: Bronze
14 x 8 x 5
Edition of 35
$1400

This was a thought for some time, that emerged as a figure, head turned a bit as she listens to the heavenly voice guiding her. I enjoy the feeling of this sculpture, as it seems so peaceful, yet her first exhibitions were the 2004 National Sculpture Society's "Angels, Cupids and other Winged Creatures" in New York and the Salmagundi exhibition following the events of Sept. 11, 2001. She brought hope to people who remarked on the power of the piece.

Heron on Alert
Fishing the Stream [Bear and Salmon]

Heron on Alert by Catherine Ferrell

Medium:Bronze
Size: 21 X 14 X 11
Price: $3,600.00

This piece was inspired by the Great Blue heron in the mangroves on the Indian River lagoon outside my studio. I love watching these magnificent birds as they stalk and wait motionless, then suddenly move into an entirely different pose and purpose. They wait, too, on the ocean's edge in front of our home and studio.

Ferrell - Fishing the Stream

materials: Bronze
13 x 12 x 7
Edition of 25
$1800

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, my parents were fishing on Kodiak Island, with huge bears fishing near them. I thought this would be a great subject for their anniversary gift, so I had fun picturing the bear triumphantly emerging from the river. It brings back many happy childhood memories on family fishing trips in Alaska. This piece has been exhibited in New York at the Salmagundi Club and the solo show at the Pen and Brush, May-June 2004 .

Great Blue Heron
Step of Faith

Ferrell - Great Blue Heron

materials: Bronze
36 x 38 x 24
Edition of 2
SOLD

This piece was created at the request of a patron for her Florida home. She often enjoyed a view of a Great Blue, as it would fish at the water’s edge. The edition was exclusive, two being the number chosen. The second heron was purchased by Brookgreen Gardens for the new Lowcountry Center courtyard, a beautiful placement of the work.

materials: Bronze
26 x 19 x 14
Edition of 12
$3600

This piece is the newest family work, and is full of the parent/child
enigma: "I'm big enough to do this on my own, but you're still right there, aren't you?” The edge of the water seemed the perfect setting for this piece, as the mother gathers her skirt to wade a bit with her son while he explores the wonders of the water. The first casting of this piece was sold to a collector before it was finished. It will be my entry for the New York shows next season.

Regatta ( Sailing I, II, and III )
$6000

"Regatta" is composed of three sailboats that were originally carved in stone and cast into bronze. The originals are in homes on the Pacific coast, on Lake Michigan and in Florida. Inspired by memories of sailing as a child and by later adventures on a 36' Cheoy Lee sloop in the Bahamas, they are part of a series prized by collectors since 1983, when my early days of racing Sunfish and later sloops found their way into the sculpture. Even while captaining boats, my artist's eye was seeing sculptural possibilities in each setting. The wonderful curves of the sails and hulls, as they tack and maneuver for the advantage, round the mark and race for the finish line, present a remarkable contrast in feeling to the leisure of a summer cruise in the islands. Racing in the Abaco Regatta was always great fun, as was racing off the Florida coast. These works have been exhibited in the Cornell Museum's solo show in 1999 and, in stone, at Lighthouse Gallery.
